I understand that concept. But you have to admit that this is where it starts. When the community supports restrictive behavior to make it more "positive" we become vulnerable to being enslaved by certain values. You may have good intentions but it is a slippery slope.

probably going to get banned for this... but whatever.
I hate the new rules! WTF is happening to this site.
    God...

That's all I can say in words.

I have an idea. Why not make points/strikes expire after, let's say, 2-3 weeks, a month, two.
Just don't make them too severe.

Just to clarify: double-posting means twice in a row right? And not twice in the same thread? And good question:

Or if the post has been unanswered and gets to Page 2 where it's not immediately visible?

This is a private site, run by me, and I am the one that is legally responsible for what goes on this site. I actually had to create a Limited Liability Corporation to limit my personal liability if anything goes out of hand on the site, and the mods and I are implementing rules that are strict enough to allow us to keep the site clean.

That does not mean we will always give out punishments for any small thing, but we merely want to have the biggest stick possible on the books so that people don't complain when things get out of hand and we need to give out bans.

    seems like a valid question

Also it's a limited liability company not corporation.

ok so if the topic is.

    how to hack 2.0 firmware

    and I say

    something like.

I like Winpwn. With 1.1.4 Its great and wiggly iCons.

But then I'm like WELL to TOPIC

    Thanks for the guide!

is that considered off topic? like saying something else before the original post?

like right now if I just start talking about star wars. But get to the point at the end.

why don't we just follow the rules and assume the mods will use their discretion to keep infractions for accidental stuff from being applied?
