i know it sounds dumb but i need to get my ipod replaced, not repaired so are there any ways to completely ruining it without breaking the physical appearance of it?
like not cracking the screen but some way to make it not boot?
    and i have the 2g.

ive already searched but most of the threads say you need a jailbroken ipod to ssh the folders and files off the ipod.

i need to brick it because i want to get it replaced not repaired. and the problem that it has will probably be not enough to get it replaced.

You cannot brick an iPod without some form of physical mutilation.

Look in the headphone jack and see if there is a white paper. If there is, you're good. There aren't many litmus papers that are not susceptible to the alcohol trick.
