I tried searching for this but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I just connected to CuteFTP with OpenSSH, and now instead of media_sym, there is a folder called root.zip. What is happening?

You installed OktoPrep. That is a direct result of that. Along with all the other files you see scattered around the iPod. Don't worry too much about it.

that has nothing to do with adding iphone apps. Media sym was an old folder that was left behind by previous jailbreaking methods. Do a search in the forums under the "applications" subforum for instructions to add iphone apps. (they will be copied via ssh into a different folder.

Read my post that came three posts before yours in this thread. Yes we do need it. OctoPrep put it there. It is called by the new JailBreak process. The files in root.zip are intertwined with the actual 1.1.2 file system.

Calm down there, tiger. I'm sorry for assuming. Did you Jailbreak via one of the one touch sites. If so, then it most likely installed that version.

I am ~95 percent sure that that is called by the next Jailbreaker, so it only makes sense that the current Jailbreaker uses a similar method.

I also have that root.zip I haven't installed octoprep. I jailbreaked mine using the Slovix site. Does that mean I have octoprep already? So I don't have to worry about updating to 1.1.2?
