Thanks to an awesome exploit called Rageagainstthecage, basically every Android phone can now be rooted.

This program called SuperOneClick is basically a GUI for said exploit that will root and allow sideloading of applications in one click. Note that there is a selection of devices that will not work with this, mainly some HTC devices with their NAND locked down. This is easily "fixed" by going to www.unrevoked.com and using that tool to unlock /system for your phone.

this is the exploit i used to root my captivate on froyo but before it had a gui using command line and adb. works really well and its great that hes made it into a gui so people less experienced or uncomfortable with cmd line and adb can take advantage of it. i believe this was made by clshortfuse from xda

Is there anywhere I can read up on the exploit itself?
