I bought Band and then I remembered my love of Moo's stuff.

Pianist is a piano application for iPod Touch and iPhone, and it's had a makeover since we saw it last...

    Specs.

    Name: Pianist.
    Category: Music.
    Release Date: 2nd July 2008.
    Seller: Mark Terry.
    Size: 7.0 MB.
    Price: £3.49

    What does it do?

    It's a bloody piano!

    What does it look like?

    Features.

    I'll start with the Metronome:

Very useful if you need to record many parts in time, or if you're like me.. and you can't keep in time with anything by ear.

Brilliant addition. You can record and save songs, and then load them again. The app comes with these 3 snippets preloaded and they're brilliantly made (as expected). What's more, when you play back a recording, the keys animate as if they were being played. This is an amazing feature in my opinion.

    Application Setup:

Only 2 settings available to change. I hadn't been in this part of the app until starting this review, so I only just noticed the option to label the notes. If you don't know where notes are on a keyboard or the quick-moving pace of the app disorientates you - this is useful.

I also feel now is a good time to explain the actual piano interface:

The sounds are genuine piano noises! Yayyy. They sound amazing. Let's get that out of the way. Now I will use my labelling skills to show you the rest...

TADA. The scrolling piano feature is brilliant.

    Help.

If you need help: there's this sexy, lovely manual.

    Conclusion:

Brilliant app. Surpasses its previous jailbroken version and this is a lovely addition to my Band, GuitarToolkit and BeatMaker (When I can afford it) collection.

Buy it. Wait for Guitarist and Drummer to rears their heads. And then buy those as well.

    Scores:

    Looks: 5/5.
    Ease of use: 5/5.
    Fun: 4/5.
    Price: 4/5.

Is there a difference between the band piano version and pianist?

I mean is it worth getting pianist instead of band?

    Btw very awsome review!!

Band isn't as full as I'd expect.
It only has something like... 5 instruments.
And one of them are an audience clapping and 2 more are drums.
4th is a small piano... 5th is the blues instrument.

This pianist is a full 88-key piano and the keys are easier to press.
Band's is only 2 octaves and is difficult to play.

if you want variety, I'd go for Band - But if you just want to play piano - PIANIST is the way to go =D

Great review, it had alot more features than i first thought. I just thought it was a clone from the installer version.

Still i see no need really to buy this because i have Band and use the guitar more anyway.
