    MUSIC STUDIO
    Alexander Gross|£8.99/$14.99|274MB

    Initial Impression:
When you start up Music Studio, you are taken to a piano keyboard, where you can freely play about. There are a great deal of little buttons dotted around the screen, which provide many different functions. My first thought was how complicated the app was, and the fact that I didn't have a clue what any of the buttons did...

    Functionality:
This is where the app really starts to get good. There are more functions than you could ever need. For example, there are around ten pages of effects for your songs, twenty instruments (more can be purchased), and a wealth of editing options. You can record multiple tracks, change volume, pitch, nearly every different musical variable you can think of. I have created some really good sounding songs with this app, and I have only used about half of the functions!

    Graphics:
There are Retina-ready graphics for the whole app, and everything is made to look like a real music studio. The volume sliders, tuning dials etc. all look very realistic.

    Audio quality:
Again, Music Studio impresses me with it's crisp, clear audio sampling, and the vast amount of effects you can apply to recordings. The instruments actually sound realistic, unlike my digital piano...

    Value for money:
The app costs £8.99, which is a lot of money, but if you are interested in music, it is well worth it. You do get a load of functions for the price, so it is actually quite good value.

    So, here are my ratings:

    Functionality: 5
    Graphics: 5
    Audio Quality: 4.5
    Value for money: 4.5

    Overall:

I really like this app, as it is what I would expect from a computer program, let alone something that runs on an iPod...

This app is considered as "Garageband on iPhone,"

but Garageband (from v 1.1) is now a universal app.

Should I buy Garageband (4.99) instead of this (14.99)?

    1. Can Garageband transpose (change pitch) notes singly?

    2. What are other features that Garageband has which are not present in Music Studio?

    1. Don't think so.

    2. Only smart chords really...

Garageband is for people that aren't really musical. It allows you to create a song fairly easily. Music Studio is for professionals that need to compose a song when they don't have access to a real studio, therefore it has many professional features.

To be honest, Garageband is crap. (opinion, not fact)
