For me, the game is really boring because there are few enemies before the "God King " appears. Although the enemies become stronger the more you play IB, it's boring to "point-click" through the same place (the castle) over and over again. Honestly, I prefer games like Doodle Jump, Cut the rope or Spirit. They are simple, cheap and provide endless fun).
There are several ways you can play it, too: there is one part where you can go a separate way and fight more monsters to get more gold/items, or you can go straight through the huge doors of the castle to skip that portion. I find this game to have a higher replay value than what the OP suggests; the urge to get the Infinity Blade is something everyone sets a goal for and gaining the gold for that item takes a while to accomplish. Meanwhile, you must buy better gear for your character along the way - if you don't, then you might as well kiss your Son of a God's butt goodbye because you know you can't kill anything with cheap gear just so you can save up for that special sword. The thing I am wondering is what is after this? What "blade" is after the Infinity Blade. The Infinity Blade adds 200 to attack rating; what can beat that? What can beat the Helio Armor or The Wall shield; what can beat the Ring of Ice and Fire or the Oroku helmet? I can guarantee that the developers of this Unreal Engine Game were trying hard to figure out a solution to such a conundrum. I guess, from what I can tell, we must wait for the update to gain such indescribable gear and (gasp) multiplayer, which I know will be superb, judging by their effort in making such a fantastic game and having valuable customer feedback. And, I would also like to add, that you, mrguidogenio, made quite a hypocritical statement: Doodle jump, cut the rope, and spirit are all games that are repetitive and are all "point-click" - as you so deem - some you don't even point anything, like Doodle Jump, for example (unless you count randomly firing your small and so-called "gun" by using one of your fingers.) The rounds in Doodle Jump don't change much either, yes the monsters change location a bit, the little squares move each round, but, to be honest, that game drives the hell out of me: constantly jumping here and there with a cutely adorable "doodle" and even killing adorable monsters; the game itself is just, to sum it up, adorable. Infinity Blade, on the other hand, is badass. 'Nuff Said.
The game has some replay, but gets really boring after a while (repetitive is not a good thing sometimes). The only way that replay value could be increased is if they add more to the actual game. Upgrading your character's level and weapons can only be fun for so long. The Other part that took away from the gameplay was the lack of free movement. The current update hasn't added much (a few items and a new monster). I want some more places to explore. Until the updates are shot out, the replay value is as it stands, barely any. You do the same thing over and over again... It gets boring... It is a fun game to pickup and play though... But it isn't an all out addictive game like Doodle Jump and Angry Birds... At least in that game, the levels change (exception of Doodle Jump), and there are more things to try. ^^These are my opinions, you are entitled to yours though^^
First, I would like to point out that if any doodle jump fans want to kill me by vigorously poring water over a wet towel placed over my mouth while I am laying down, then I apologize for bashing your precious game. Tiny, I agree, but it does take skill to dodge practically every hit, be able to do a combo all the time, etc. The game takes a good amount of skill and the process of learning those skills make it entertaining and worth while. Think of it as Call of Duty; you do the same competitive thing (killing people) but as you get better, your killing people skills get better and you become a higher ranked person faster. Same for Infinity Blade: As you get better at killing the monsters, you become a higher ranked person faster than, let's say, someone who just stands there letting the monster attack them at free will.
The difference between IB and COD is that once you see the AIs first attack, you will know where the next ones will be. Multiplayer will make things much more fun and challenging since we won't be able to predict each other's attacks.
I see what you mean with the skill and getting better. I have seen this myself. But it comes a point where it will just get boring going through the same exact story the whole time. Which Call of Duty, you have a multitude of things that change constantly. Opponents, the number of them, how they interact, and the weapons/specialties they have. Then you have the other side, the levels. There is no such thing as a level in Infinity Blade right now, it's all the same level. There is no such thing as using your environment to your advantage (or even adapting to a new one) as there is only one environment. Call of Duty also has a much longer story line than Infinity Blade. You go to different places and you do different things with different styles. Infinity Blade has none of this. And the most important, the story line doesn't repeat a trillion times (big exaggeration, I know). That's the thing that sucks about the story line, after going through it a few times, you know exactly what's going to happen. One of the things that I find will keep players in the game is the story line. Once you've gone through it, you don't want to go through it again as you know what's going to happen. I do see where you come from with the skill and all that. But that is more of an online type of thing. Which I also which they had right now (hopefully soon, like they said). This is what you do after you beat the game, you play for fun, but even that only gets so fun.
That's true too for most of the monsters. I wish they would randomize it. I still can't figure out the boss' attacks fully though... I haven't played it much lately. I can see a couple patterns, but not much after that. Again, I haven't played it much, only on the 5th bloodline right now... Sick of seeing the same story again
First let me say great review and great discussion going on here too! As far as the replay value goes I think that's a personal opinion TO AN EXTENT. don't get me wrong I'd love to see new content and can't wait for the update, but at the same time I'm level 45 with everything mastered and bloodline 6, only because I restarted bloodlines around bl 24 or so just to see what it would do. Kind of fun pwning enemies with two hits from the ib but I can't quit playing this beast! As far as the enemies being 'predictable' I thought that myself until I got pwned a couple times by lvl 15 or whatever assassins because they laid down some moves I didn't see up till that point. It was weird, just out of no where came a completely unexpected combo. From a couple different ones actually but can't remember which ones exactly so forgive me for that. Anyway its a huge step forward for iPhone/iPad/iPod gaming! Love this and eagerly awaiting the update
