Infinity Blade - A Review: The Good, the Bad, and the Totally Amazing! OK, so we all know what this game is. We all have our own opinions on it. We all think it's either amazing, sucks, or just fine. I am surprised there is no review yet. So I'll be doing one on this great, fun, repetitive game. We'll take a look at: -Menus/GUI -Features -GRAPHICS -Controls and Gameplay -Replay Value Everything will be taken out of ten, then averaged to the nearest tenth for the final score. Let's begin: Menus/GUI -------------------- Not the most important, but you need these to get to the actual game, in most games. In Infinity Blade, your menus are basic and short. You press one button to get to the game. All the menu options are large and easy to find. They are also all self explanatory, so you know where you're going and what you are doing. Menu consist of 5 buttons, all self explanatory. I'll have to give this one a 9 because it is easy to understand, and I wouldn't change this for the world. It loses one point because in order to restart the game, you have to go into the options, one of the few places I'd look in the pause menu. Menus/GUI: 9/10 Features ------------------- The bulk of the game is in it's features, graphics, and controls, here we will take a good look at the features: -Customizable Character -Tons of items, swords, shields, and rings -Amazing graphics -RPG style game play -Fast paced battles Mass amount of weapons in the game RPG aspect of the game The game offers many features and have more coming up if you look in the "Coming Soon" section in the pause menu. Because it is feature packed, the features of the game earn it a perfect 10 for the features section Features: 10/10 Graphics -------------------- One of the main reason to buy this game alone. Infinity Blade offers exquisite, gorgeous graphics that are to die for. In my opinion the graphics alone are worth at least 4-5 out of the six bucks. Hard work, and smoothness makes it just that much greater. Graphics look stunning on the retina display, unbelievable in a sense Beautifule, gorgeous, amazing. Three words to sum up the graphics to give it a perfect 10, can't give it any lower. Graphics: 10/10 Controls and Gameplay -------------------- The control scheme in Infinity Blade is basic and easy. I'm going to separate this up into 2. -Battle: Swipe, dodge, perry, and block your way through the battle. The control scheme is easy to get down and natural to every touch. Although not always responsive (some buttons could be larger), the controls are easy to get down and use. Control scheme in the game, simple and easy to learn -Movement through Epic Citadel: You touch the screen to move. There is no free movement which is a high letdown. Although it doesn't entirely kill the game play, it does get in the way. I'd rather be able to walk freely. However, you are allowed to peak around and still enjoy the beautiful scenery. Movement is done by pressing items on the screen and blue blips For the controls and game play, the controls keep it up, while the movement brings it down. I'll have to give this a lower rating of 6 because of the lack of movement. One of the only letdown to this game. Controls and Gameplay: 6/10 Replay Value --------------------- The replay value here is just about none at the moment, until the update is released (from what I've heard, the major one is due in January), the replay value is not there. The game gets repetitive as you go through the same plot over and over again. Although the monsters get stronger, the story remains the same and gets boring after a while. Lack of replay value kills this game, even more so than the lack of free roam. I'll be giving this a 3 for replay value and that's being generous, it is fun for a little while, then it's not. Replay Value: 3/10 Final Scores -------------------- Menus/GUI: 9/10 Features: 10/10 Graphics: 10/10 Controls and Gameplay: 6/10 Replay Value: 3/10 Overall Score: 7.6 Rating: GOOD Final Thoughts -------------------- Infinity Blade is a great game that has outstanding graphics and controls. The gameplay itself is fast paced and a great time killer. It doesn't have that much replay value at the moment. Free roam is nonexistent in the game. Even though all that, the game is still great, and worth the 6 dollars in my opinion. The replay value will come with updates and online play is planned. The potential for this game is immense with the vast updates planned for it. So don't let the overall score fool you, there's more to come . ------------------------------------------------- iTunes Download Link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/infinity-blade/id387428400?mt=8#
holy crap. they said the graphics were good, but THAT good? that is gorgeous. awesome review! i havent played it, but based off what others have been saying, it seems like a fair review
The character customization menu confuses the crap out of me, and I can't sell my Aegis shield.. It's maxed out, and I really don't need a mastered item in my inventory... The repetitive bloodline do get a bit boring, then again you have multiple paths to choose from, and you can repeatedly aim for getting achievements in Game Center as you replay the Bloodline.. Still, I love thid game!
I love this game, but as my teachers always say, "A team is only as good as it's weakest member" Replay value REALLY kills it, because until you can defeat the last guy, you are screwed.
Yeah, it's amazing what the iPod can do nowadays Thanks for the complement by the way, appreciate it. You should be able to sell the item back in the store. Some items don't show up to sell at first, but they should. I've sold many mastered items. But it is a little confusing, I understand where you come from. So true, a team is as weak as it's weakest link. Cool random fact about that, this is what China's education system is based on. But the replay does kill the game a little. But it's still a fun pick up and play for five minutes while waiting for a bus or during a break.
