    iBooks by Apple

    Author: Apple
    Released: June 21, 2010
    Price: Free

In this review of the iBooks app by apple we will be covering a few different aspects of the app. The things that we cover will be Ease of Use, Graphics, and Value for Money. Let's get started.

    Ease of Use

When your first open this app a bookshelf appears, which displays all of the books in your library. To select a book, you simply tap on its cover. It then opens the book.

There are buttons on the top of the screen while you are reading your book, which is the library button, which will take you back to the shelves with your books on them, next is the chapters button, tapping on this will display all of the chapters in your book and you may also view all of your bookmarks in that book. With the button after that one you can adjust your brightness, which is handy for reading at night. You can change the text size with the next button, and with the following button you can search your book for phrases or words. and with the last button you can bookmark the page you are currently reading.

At the bottom of the screen you can scrobble you place in the book, which is very useful for skipping around or only reading certain chapters. Lets go back to the "Library" screen now. If you would like to purchase a new book you just tap the "store" button in the corner. When you tap "Store" it flips the bookshelf around to the iBookStore.

when in the iBookStore you simply tap on the book you want, and you can preview it or go ahead and purchase it. To get back to your Library you simply tap "Library" again.

However, I have heard that iBooks treats .pdf files as an image, so I must take off a point for that

For Ease of Use, iBooks gets a 4/5

    Graphics

Well, As an eBook reader, this app does not need very good graphics, but it does take advantage of the iPhone 4's retina display, so one of the first things you notice is how crisp the graphics look. However this ap does not need an iPhone 4 to function, It also looks great on any other iDevice.

For Graphics, iBooks gets a 5/5

    Value for Money

As this app is free, It recieves a 5/5 for Value for Money

    Overall

So, here is the scores on the official score system:

Features: 3/5 (.pdf support extremely limited)
    GUI: 5/5
Audio: N/A (eBook readers do not typically have audio)
Reuse Value: 4/5 (.pdf support again)
Value For Money: 5/5 (Free App...)

So, Overall, This app gets a 4.5/5

I don't know, but if it can be, that would be so awesome. 3.1.2 / 3.1.3 especially.

I eddited the systemVersion.plist to say 3.2 in 3.1.2, and it downloaded, when I tap on the icon it crashes the phone.

Those are showing the qraphics quality.
