The enclosed tools cannot cause any marks as they are plastic, so i assume something else was used. It is best not to use anything sharp and metallic, unless you coat it with think sticky tape first to stop it scuffing.

I really think we need a few people able to do installs for others. Like anything it is easy when you know how

the tools supplied broke after about two minutes. I don't care about the scratches though.

I have to agree with this review...it's almost spot on.....The case itself is nice looking and my back still remains unscratched. Gold_finger did a great job. I have to disagree with one of your points though... Screwing on the wifi and power button to the new back was relatively painless for me...The only challenging part was making sure the power button "clicked" when pressed and the contact sheet stays on the back. I used a little strip of scotch tape:) ...I loved the magnetic screwdriver...I have to say though the guitar pick was pointless (Don't even bother trying, it's too flimsy and has no rigidity. Mine ended up as a twisted piece of plastic.), but the blank card actually helped a little It was wide enough to keep the back pried open so I could pry it with my small screwdriver . Neither fit between the gap of the back cover and the side bevel. I, like the others, resorted to a small flat head glasses screwdriver. This caused scratches like all you other guys. It took me around 20 minutes to open the case. Putting the new case on was actually pretty difficult for me. I thought my case was too small at first and would not fit..My first 10 tries to wiggle the case on were close, I had all but my bottom right clip on. I had to use a lot of force to put it on, but now that it is on it fits almost better than the original...Now I just got to try and cover up some of my bevel.

Shipping was fast and packaging was good. Gold_Finger gets a 10 but installation takes patience and a scratched bevel is going to happen (if you have never opened an ipod before in your life. If I had to open my ipod again I bet I would still scratch it with my tools and the ones given.)

Does anyone know how long the back will resist from scratching..and should I beware of any object that might scratch it?? Will keys, or pins scratch it if pressed hard enough. I'm too scared to try

(OOPS, I meant to respond to the other ipod review thread...o well it still is relevant.)

i put a little piece of metal in the sleep/wake button and it works, it just doesn't have a nice click.

Under passive load you won't scratch it. You can try dragging a key up and down it under passive load and it will not mark. If you press hard the underlying steel will buckle and leave an indent that looks like a scratch. Basically it won't get scratched under normal usage or if dropped
