okay, so i installed the new 3.0 firmware, and honestly, i hate it. so, i want to go back to 2.0.

i tried holding down shift in iTunes and clicking restore, then clicking my restore file (iPod1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw). didn't work. i get the error "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1600)". same thing happens when i hold down shift and click Check for Update. is there ANY possible way for me to revert back to 2.0?

    btw,
i also made sure my iPod was in DFU mode before i did this.

There is a guide floating around somewhere, just search for it.

May I ask what is troubling you about 3.0?

    EDIT: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204635

It's for the 1st Gen iPod Touch, I don't know what version you have but that's the guide for it. Also I don't think anything is wrong with 3.0...

yeah, i have a 1G so hopefully that guide will work, thanks!

it just seems like my ipod has been going a lot slower since i upgraded. i don't like how when i have my headphones unplugged, the volume slider goes away (probably because i don't have a built-in speaker since i have a 1st gen) and also, i had mine jailbroken and almost none of the apps i downloaded from cydia are compatible with 3.0. like fontswap and lockdown, which are two that i used frequently.

i agree with u on the apps :\

u got to give the devs time though, the jailbreak has been out only for a couple of days

yeahhh i know. i downloaded 2.0 right when it came out as well and the same thing happened, so i just went back to 1.1.5

then i waited a few months and installed 2.0 again and everything worked. so i guess i'll just stay with 2.0 for a while and give apple a chance to fix whatever bugs are in 3.0 and give the devs a chance to port everything over, then i'll update again.

i had 3.0 for a lil but cydia crashed everythimg i opened it. I put it into DFU mode and shift clicked. It should work for you, if not restart your computer and try again.

thts a good strategy. i upgraded to 3.0 because of the "supposed" system upgrades. im just waiting to jailbreak when they actually get most of the apps working.

yeah. and the good thing is, since you've already paid for it now, you can go back and download it whenever you want cause you already paid for it.

well, that is, IF you paid for it, haha.
