So. I thought about a perfect test / way, to be sure I don't have the negative / bad screen problem. But first , a little background : As you know, some of the Ipod Touches have a perfect screen. Absolutely no flaws. Even with the firmware 1.0 . But some have this problem called - the negative screen effect. What is that ? Basically when you watch a movie, or a picture which has very dark hues, or perfect blacks, the ipod displays that black colors actually whiter. So Apple figure out a way to "cover" this up. They released an update , 1.1 I believe, which doesn't fixed the problem, (because the problem is in fact a hardware defect which cannot be fixed) but instead mask it , makes you believe it was fixed. The update doesn't allow the screen any more to display the darkest hues, which in fact reduces the contrast, which reduces the quality of course. By doing this, you cannot notice any more the negative problem, because your screen doesn't display anymore those dark hues. And the problem was visible only when your screen was showing very dark hues. ----------- So my theory is - if you wanna see if you have a perfect screen, you should temporary downgrade to the first firmware. 1.0 probably. In this way the problem will be very much visible, so you'll now. This is just a theory, and of course will be usefull only for people who cares much about the quality and the contrast of their screens.
