I think that may be possible, if there is a Apple store near you...

Now I am wondering if I break my iPod on purpose take it to the Apple Store for a new one, but instead of getting a new one, i would get store credit? Because then I would return the iPod for full price then get a new iPhone 3G with it.

If the serial number's registered in another country, you might not be able to......

What do you mean by 'registered'? Would that be something that Apple does, or something that I would do when I activated my iPod?
