This a 50's retro deco theme I have been cooking up. I was watching Little Shop of Horrors today and I was inspired by the scene where Audrey is singing Somewhere That's Green.

I am still playing with the colors and icons.... I can't get the curvature toward the edges of the icons that I want. Any suggestions? I'm using Gimp.

Very interesting, the wallpaper is hurting to the eyes though. I like the icons but how will the icons be with the glyphs? can you post a couple of the completed icons. Wondering how this is going to turn out. Good start.

I completely agree aboout the wall paper. The white is too shping! right in the middle of the 'fridge door. Just haven't found a color I'm happy with to start the gradient and keep that 50's "Disney Powder Blue" look. This whole theme is a bit of a learning experiment for me. I'm as noob as it gets. Just started playing with Gimp a week ago and had never touched a graphics program before. Ever.

The Icons for this set may well remain without glyphs, but I will try a few with the glyphpack I found and maybe post them to get some opinions.

Hmm, maybe make the fridge a bit more blue, and having it as a middle gradient does hurt my eyes. just have a dark blue gradient going across it, and add some effects to it. Other than that I think you have some good skills.

P.S. I redid the door which was hard on the eye.

So, I'm having some difficulty keeping to a look in the icons for this theme. What started off as a very softish, pastel, old-school Miami look has taken a turn to a more campy, kitsch, Ren & Stimpy 50's spoof look.

These are some of the icons which show the change in idea:

(except for the compass rose and the Route 66 sign, I drew everything by hand. Surprised even me!)

This is the slide to unlock replacement I made:

And here it is with the lockscreen:

I've tried a few of the different methods I have read here on the forum to make the "slide to unlock" verbiage on the lock-screen go away with no success, as you can see.

Feel free to give me you opinions!

Love the concept, art deco would have to be one of my favourite design 'eras'.

I'd move away from stock-looking gradients, try to soften the colour tones a bit.

Me too. The lines of Art Deco lend so well to the task.

Without a molecule of sarcasm, I don't know what you mean.

I am as new and green as can be to this stuff. I haven't been playing with Gimp but for a couple of weeks now. An example of what you mean, anything at all, would be greatly appreciated. For real-real, not for play-play.
