If a "Retina Display" Mac comes a reality, it will have the same issue that the current iPad has, battery problems. I personally see no point. Don't get me wrong it would look amazing, but they should design it for photoshop artist and graphic designers overall.

If they made a Retina Display Mac, everything or mostly everything on the internet picture will look like crap.

If you updated the Mac line with Retina displays, i'm sure they would look into solving battery issues. It's not like Apple to allow short battery charges...atleast not for too long :p

As @halolordkiller3 has already mentioned, there are other issues that the retina display brings up other than battery. Retina display on my iPod touch has made apps not optimized for it look like a blurry mess. Retina display will force companies to optimize their apps and programs to meet the requirement. Its just a headache to use really, nothing more than eye candy.

Not to mention, the Macbook will get a massive weight increase because of the increased battery size. That or Apple has invented a micro-nuclear reactor to be replace the battery. ;)

And more lawsuits will follow the wake of the mini-nuclear reactor. o_O

"We heard you like cell phone radiation. So we put a nuclear reactor in your laptop so you can breathe invisble intoxicating fumes while you're away from your cell phone."

I think the additional battery weight will be negated by the (speculated) removal of the CD drive and change to SSD. Apple's not out to make another Macbook Air, so I'm sure that though the New Pro may be slimmer, slimness isn't going to be a priority.

The rest of the world isn't even ready for these large resolutions.
