I have saved my shsh's with tinyumbrella and the shsh's are 60kb, is that how big they are supposed to be?

How do I restore to my chosen firmware with these?

You simply press "Start TSS server" in tinyumbrella after you have retrieved the blobs and then shift-restore in iTunes or you can add a string to your computers host file that redirects your computer to saurik's server (Cydia) instead of the Apple server when you restore and shift-restore in iTunes.

When I press shift restore in itunes, do I choose the 60kb shsh file?

You download the firmware you need, and select that. (the firmware for the version you want to change to)

Why does Apple have shift-restore? Don't they realise 50% of jailbreaks are prevented just by disabling it?

I don't know why the have all the old firmwares still downloadable. It would remove even more jailbreaks if they delete them so people couldn't download them...

If you're referring to the felixbrums site that isn't under Apples control i don't think.

Apple keeps some old firmwares for old devices so they can restore to their highest capable firmware.

So when I press shift and restore, Do I just have to select the 60kb shsh file? or do I have to download the actual 300MB firmware?

You download and select the actual .ipsw firmware file. Not the small shsh file..
