So far using tinyumbrella to grab/save shsh for a 3g 4.0.2 fw was a success ,
changing DFU Compatible ID's was a success and iTunes has accepted the ipsw AND was able to pass through the verrified through apple, HOWEVER an error 1600 is the result and it seems the iPhone has trouble rebooting into the restore mode

I hate to break it to you, but it's just not going to happen.

iOS 4.0+ just isn't meant to run on that hardware, and will not because of that.

iPhone 3g and iPhone 2g have the same processor, multitouch screen now that i dont know, replacing kernel extensions after the device has been successfully restored with it which it can should boot up and run properly,, i would replace them with the restore file i just dont know how to repack an unencrypted img

taking a break for the day have a god damn headache, basically changed the kernelcache file with the 3.1.3 modded the restore and bundle plists to match the 2g board id changed from 4 to 0 , changed the n82ap's to m68ap's replaced the firmware folder with 3.1.3's and changed the 2 dmg's with 3.1.3's and renamed them to correspond to the 4.0's and the device restore booted into restore mode with the bar but didnt go any further and itunes errored with an error 2 , taking a break for the day if anyone else would like to take a crack lets goooo, if we can unpack the main filesystem dmg and edit the system files to correspond with the 2g's and modify the kexts in system/library/extensions we should be in good shape, IOS4 ON 2G LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN! basically im using my knowledge of osx86 to get this accomplished

thanks for the motivation lol XD tonight im going to decrypt iOS3 3.1.3 for the 2g and iOS4 4.0.2 for the 3g's filesystem, restore, update ramdisks for closer examination, I moved over to my linux laptop so I can work in my basement where I sleep lol, im only one person so if anyone else has ANY suggestions/information I could use ID GREATLY APPRECIATE IT and please try to keep the negativity out of this thread, I know everyone says iOS4 CANT RUN ON THE FIRST GENERATION but the thing is, IT CAN, if they can port over android then we can install iOS4 on our 2g/HACKINTOSH style, and saying it cant run hardware wise is like saying the 3g cant run it so please enough of that garbage
    ------------------double post merged------------------
and as an update for anyone who wants to try this, you will need to be on 3.1.3 and use thetinyumbrella on the machine your restoring the device with and make sure to start the tss server and grab the shsh for the iPhone3g 4.0.2 firmware
    ------------------double post merged------------------
and also I might have to decrypt the img3 files in the firmware folder, iBoot definitely needs patching and i think somewhere I read that its too big for the iPhone2g's NOR any hints on this would be appreciated

This is the farthest ive gotten I think its having problems decrypting the filesystem dmg
    ------------------double post merged------------------
now trying to get the 2 stock 4.0.2 ramdisks to load, confirmed device tree needs to be patched, all the DFU files need to be patched. still waiting for someone to tell me wth handles the encryption of the filesystem
    ------------------double post merged------------------
ok so all there is to it now is the vanilla kernelcache i guess, if someone can modify the stock one with iPhone 2g values we may have iOS4 on our 2g, after filesystem modifications that is, maybe a dev-team member could look at this, all we need is someone who knows a little more than i Do. i got the device to the apple logo with the vanilla kernel cache and stock img3 files, only replaced the ibss and ibec , and devicetree i can get it to the restore process by swaping out the kernelcache and renaming 3.1.3's restore and update ramdisks and replacing them aswell. so im assuming its tht god damn kernelcache thats responsible please someone look at it for me upload anything you find. Ill be posting the firmware plists and filesystem structure youll need
    ------------------double post merged------------------
    http://www.[PIRACY.mu].com/?d=RUUJ1S6R

here is a little ipsw shell without the dmg files, put those in yourself, see what you can do itunes will accept this
as long as you run thefirmwareumbrella with your 2g plugged in and grab the shshblobs for 4.0.2 iPhone 3g firmware and start tss server , sh*t or command click pc/mac and see what progress we can make
    ------------------double post merged------------------
btw i chose 4.0.2 to keep it openiboot compatibe lol gotta have my idroid =D
    ------------------double post merged------------------
    lmao shift** btw excuse me
    ------------------double post merged------------------
also when more progress is made im going to switch to a custom ipsw of 4.0.2 because were going to need to ssh in bootneuter for unlockers
    ------------------double post merged------------------
going to try a custom ipsw of the 4.0 ipsw, gunna run it through sn0wbreeze and see what i can do with it HOLLA!
