Hey, I wnt to restore and re-jailbreak my 2.2.1 ipod touch 2g. But I dont want to install 3.0, how do I restore back to 2.2.1?

Also I understand that APTbackup will restore all my cydia apps but will it also restore my winterboard themes?

    thanks for the help.

Find where your 2.2.1 is located, then press Option/Shift + Restore. Then just browse for the IPSW.

    ok thanks.

I'm still a little unclear about how aptbackup works, do I restore to 2.2.1, re-jailbreak and then download APTbackup and restore my apps from there?

Exactly. After re-jailbreaking, download aptbackup again & just choose to Restore.

    APTbackup:
working only on 2.x OR 3.0 at the moment, NOT the way 2.x > 3.0

    -backup with aptbackup
    -restore to firmware 2.2.1
-let iTunes restore the Backup of the state before the restore in step 2
    -jailbreak
    -install aptbackup
    -launch aptbackup and choose restore

the most important step is to let itunes restore the backup file

I've ran into a problem, I have finished re-jailbrakng and now when I try to install APTbackup with cydia it doesnt show up on the springboard.

I tried reinstalling it from the packages menu but no success.

    Any ideas?

EDIT: ok I reinstalled SBSettings and found aptbackup still in its dock lol.

BUT: I tried to restore from aptbackup and it said "restoring" and the the iPod rebooted, but nothing has been restored atol. I still have nothing in Cydia lol

    any way to sort this?
