I just bought a 1.1.4 itouch, and am browsing the forum trying to get a feel of things; new vocabulary, how to jailbreak, what to do and what not to...

So the question Say I have is if I wait for 7/11 and upgrade to 2.0, if I prefer using 1.1.4 jailbreaked, does a restore get be back to 1.1.4. or is the upgrade to 2.0 final?

    Thanks

well. when 1.1.3 was released the had to be some special way to downgrade using an application that came out later. then i guess dfu mode was discovered and that allows you to downgrade to any firmware. my guess is that no it wont be able to but someone will eventually find a way. i give it a week after release then it will be able to be jailbroken and downgraded

    jimbeam is correct.

It IS possible to downgrade from 2.0, but you will have to download an older version of iTunes. Then put it into DFU mode (Using iLIberty+ or ZiPHone) and then do a Shift + Restore in iTunes.

What? I think there may be some "remote downgrading" without iTunes. Something like pwnagetool. Plug it in, press the button and it's downgrading. Or has Apple discovered a new bootloader and a safe way to upgrade (hard to believe) that accepts only 2.0+

not if apple makes a 1 way upgrade. Remove everything else with deep-system access and This Is It. But hackers will then find a way to put 1.1.4 w/ the new b/l.
