I know this is a complete noob question, but I would appreciate no flaming. Ok solved my first issue. Now another questions. On the 1.1.4 jb guide, it says to make sure its a NEW ipod. How do I do that after I name it?

The file you are speaking of is the firmware, a .ipsw file. They can be found here. Remember to choose the iPod touch Firmware of course, then go through the process (shift-restore)

    Good Luck

yeah as long as you use a freshly restored ipod, (nothing synched to it) you can jb your touch. and remember, if you fail, you can always restore and try again.
