I tried to restore my ipod touch 2g to 3.1.2 after upgrading to iOS4 because of numerous crashes in most apps. I did everything that was required DFU mode etc then chose 3.1.2 firmware. Ipod rebooted etc as normal and restore started as normal.

    BUT

It gets stuck at what appears to be around 99% on Itunes in the progress bar and the same on the ipods screen and the restore just never ends. I turned the ipod off and tried again and again and still does not work. I tried restoring back to iOS4 and it does the exact same thing.

Nothing seems to work and I've found other similar posts like mine but its had to tell from their descriptions if the problem is the same as mine.

    Can anyone help?

We dont have apple stores here either so I cant take it in.

No I dont have sauriks server in my hosts file...

If that doesn't work, reinstall iTunes, fixes it whenever I have this problem.

    Restore 100%

all u haf to do is hold in the power/home until turns off AND goes to logo, when its on the logo, release the power button and keep holding home for 30 seconds (all your data will be removed) (unless backed up on itunes)

Thanks to both of you, uninstalling wifi-sync worked.
