    Hi all

I just bought an Itouch 2days ago an jailbroke it on the first day with ziphone
I did a firmare upgrade 1.1.4 and then used the ziphone app ( which was very easy to use )
Now supose for some reason I want to restore will it restore to "factory default!?"
and if I restore will it restore the firmware 1.1.3 ( the one that was default with my ipod )
or will it restore to 1.1.4 !? Also I didn't backup anything ( I mean nothing was on the ipod )
So will a restore be sufficient !?
and each time I restore do I need to jailbreak it again ?

    Thx for your replies

    Hi Xbreaker,
Yes! you need to jailbreak it again each time you restore or do the recovery mode.
You don't need to be worried with Firmware Backups even your media datas. You can restore them anytime.
Media Datas are stored in your iTunes in your computer.
Firmwares can be downloaded in the net or in Apple.

But if you're talking about restoring your Ipod through resetting it in your Ipod, i suggest you don't. it will mess up the config. Restore it by Hitting the Sleep and Home Buttons for 8-10secs then release Sleep button while Home button is pressed up until you see your screen totally black.
Chadaaa... it's like a new Ipod. All is erased and even your Firmware.
Go to iTunes then hit Restore with Shift key altogether. you have to make sure that you downloaded already the firmware you want. then choose the firmware you like for your Ipod.
I suggest you browse here in the Ipodtouch fans for more knowledge..
All it takes is patience and a learning heart.
    See yah!

When you're in iTunes after you've restored your Ipod.
Click the Restore Button plus the Shift Key at the same. it'll open a browser. if you're in windows. but if you're using Mac. Press the Ctrl key on the Restore Button.

After you've pressed the Sleep and Home Buttons, you will be given an Icon from your Ipod to plug it in to your iTunes. Itunes will ask you to restore or set to recovery mode.
I suggest if you want to Jailbreak, use the Ziphone on your 1.1.4 FW.
Go to "ipodtouchmaster05" in YouTube. search it!

My Ipod is already jailbroken with ZIPHONE ( great jailbreaking app ! )
But you're telling me to hold "sh*tf" while restoring that's something I don't get why I need to hold the shift key ? can't I just click on restore ? there must be some reason behind it why to press the "shift key"

I'm thinking it's to choose a particular firmware but i'm not sure. My 1.1.4 firmware is already in the "cache" from Itunes., So I think holding shift on the restore button is a way to downgrade it

Anyway thanks for your reply again

I'm sorry. i thought you want to restore back your Ipod to it's original state.
Holding the Shift Key allows you to choose a firmware.

    Click this http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...080226.Btu45/iPod1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw
    for 1.1.4

or this for all FW http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

hope this help... Keep your Ipod JB it's more exciting as long as you don't let Apple know it. you might void your warranty.

Have you tried opening the Installer App?
Did you install some Apps already?
