Ok, guys, if you know me, you know ive been around for a while, and im not a noob.

I have an iPod touch 2G

I know how to dfu restore and what not...

I am currently not able to restore however.

whenever i try i get this error:

I have the newest public itunes and i have also tried on the new beta itunes.

    I have tried on 3 different PC's and 2 different OS's.

Ctrl + Click on Windows gives me trhe same error
Command + Click on MAc lets me restore, but ends with an error, even on legit firmware.

I have tried everything. Please help.

The first post explains it, doing the firmware update by shift+click gives the same error.

I wont be able to use my ipod until I know whatever Collateral did to fix it.

I did it. This is for anyone who has the same problem:

If it is stuck in DFU mode and wont restore do this:
This is for the pwnage/redsn0w/voltage method

    1) Go into the hack folders
    2) Find voltage-booter (also called redsn0w Boot)
    3) run the program and click boot
    4) your iPod should now glow white on the screen
    5) iTunes will now ask you to restore with the usual 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode.......'
    6) restore as asked and it will work this time, no error that used to say updates unavailable or something like that

    http://u.dopaul.com/Voltage.rar

In that folder you will find the boot along with the firmware hack and other useful tools.

    Put iPod in DFU mode
Find the program in that folder that is called voltage boot
    Open it
    Press boot
Then restore using apple firmware (not hacked)
Then hack using this page as a guide:
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=3212

(the file at the top is the same as the one you need to re-hack your ipod)

    Please rep+ if I helped
