so i cant restore my ipod touch 1g, i cant turn it on, and everytime i connect it to a computer, it says it needs to be restored. its in dfu. and i cant restore it because it freezes at "verifying ipod restore" when i do. ive tried 5 different computers, and even removed every trace of anything that has to do with itunes or apple on the registry and hard drive. Still does it. and im running windows xp sp3 with 4 of the computers, and ive tried it on a mac book pro at school, which are brand new and were just purchased months ago. Ive also tried the legit purchased itunes firmware, downloaded firmware, and a custom firmware, and nothing does it.

so my question is, how do i fix this, if at all??
ive done every suggestion from every ipod forum i could find, and nothing helps, it always freezes on "verifying ipod restore"

ps, its not and never has been jailbroken, i just tried the custom firmware to see if it would do anyhing. and iam trying to install firmware 2.21

make sure your computer is allowing iTunes to connect to the internet.

First restore to a lower firmware say 2.2 or something then try 2.2.1

go to this site: http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=download ipod firmware
    click [on a link]
and download the 1G iPod Touch 2.2.1
when download finishes, open the ipod in itunes, and when you click restore, hold shift. then select the firmware you downloaded and that should work.
