do you know how much work that would entail? It takes a team with the complete set of device blue prints, probably 100 people and a good few months to make a standalone mobile OS that's based on another OS. In order for any developer to make it now, without it running on top of the iphone OS 3.x would be ridiculous without 1000s of people preordering it for a large chunk of money.

in order for it to be worth while it would need every bit of the touch/iphones resources to run, if the iphone OS was running too the only devices that would be worth running it on would be 3rd gen touches and the 3GS.

Okay, no offense but its not as wasy as you think, its harder than making a jailbreak(I think).

I don't think it would be worth the effort but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be cool.

Why don't you just skin your iPhone to look like these oses it would be much simpler and stuff than hacking the kernel and using stuff like iBoot

    Waste of time.

Not many users would do this, it's probably a lot of work for nothing too good and it'd probably be extremely buggy the first few versions.

I'm sticking with my stock OS, possibly going to jailbreak and theme it up a bit, otherwise, I'm not touching another OS.. Unless it was Android or something, I might consider that.
