What exactly is the problem? I'm fairly certain that only a few libraries are installed on the root partition from Cydia, all other applications etc are stored the same place as music, photos etc. /Private?

So unless you're doing some fairly heavy coding in there or storing things that you shouldn't be in the root partition, you should be fine.

I have the same problem on my ipod Touch 2G. And now, am not doing fairly heavy coding, I have Cydia and basic, standard and need-to-have packages (u know them all, no need to list now). BossTool isn't working and I get the message there isn't enough free space.

I have the same problem and with 26mb left on the root partition. I installed fw 3.0 and jailbroke about a month ago. At this rate, i will deplete the system partition in about 2 months. anyone come up with a way to repartition the / higher than 500mb?
