So i shattered the screen of my iPhone 3Gs, but i can still use it. Now i know i can replace the screen and digitizer, but is taking it apart the same?

It looks like this is going to be a very good learning experiance for me, but just want some more information before i do do this.

So is the 3GS built the same way as the 3G?

I don't know about. TO me looking at both physically I see no difference. Might be untrue tho

They look similar, but i'd rather find out before i start taking it apart, and find out something is different and it screws up the device.

They are the same build and everything component wise on the screen assembly is the same.

Well everything on the screen is the same... When you get deeper into the phone i.e. mobo and stuff there are extra ribbons but all in all if you're doing the screen it's the same as the 3G.

I ordered the screen, so it should be here soon. I'm doing the repair myself. This should be fun. I'm thinking about filming it, you know to show an average person performing this surgery.

That's what I meant. Even the connectors on the 3GS's screen are different from the 3G's. If you ordered a 3G screen you have to get a new 3GS screen.

The PROCESS itself (replacing the screen) is the same.
