This kid who goes to my school dropped his new white iPhone 4S...And the front glass shattered. Shattered to the point where he got cut trying to use it. (Yes, iPhone quality does suck. It was a ~4 foot drop directly on the screen and it completely destroyed the glass.)

The iPhone still works fine, and the touchscreen still works, but the glass is done. D-O-N-E. It has shattered into tons of tiny pieces and big cracks.

Anyways, I was thinking of asking him if he would let me take it off his hands for some money. I was thinking $150 was a fair offer (because, this guy doesn't know crap about repairing electronics).

How difficult is it to replace the glass on a 4S? Also, how much will it cost me? I remember repair kits with new glass for the iPhone 3G being about $30 on Amazon.

    Thanks

you will need to replace the digitizer and screen aswell, because on the iPhone 4S the glass and screen are glued together in a sense. thats going to be between $70-$110 depending on quality.

And to replace the glass u have to disassemble the whole device. I'm not sure how hard it is but it looks like it is easy to screw up if your not careful

iPhone quality sucks because they break when dropped directly on the screen at four feet with no protection? I see.

Easy. Replace it with a cheap LCD, go to Apple Store, have it replaced = New iPhone for 150.

BTW: 150 is cheap, if you can get it for 200 that's still good.

Go to apple store will be expensive and seems find a iPhone 4S screen could be a good solution....and the price is not high, expect $25-30 could be ok...

Find me a device that won't break if you drop it face first onto a hard surface with no protection. Also while you're at it, could you find me another device that sells as many units as the iPhone does?

The amount of units of a product sold is no justification of how good the product is.

Samsung Galaxy S II. Watch the drop test on YouTube. It destroys the iPhone 4S.

Wow! I didn't know that plastic is less easy to shatter than glass! Thanks for the info!
