I just got an email from Apple saying that a replacement product has been shipped to me.
I would like to know if the replacement is a new ipod touch or just a refurbished one. I kinda hope it will be new. And exactly what is a refurbished ipod? Is it used or something?
    Thnx in advance! =)

It is a refurb. Refurbs look BRAND NEW. The back and front have no scratches.

A Refurb is an iPod that someone returned because they didnt want it or it broke. Then Apple fixes them. (I Think) Im not %100 Sure Tho.

Yup, that's about it. It's just a used iPod with no scratches and works just as well as a brand new iPod.

    true.
a refurb is an ipod that had some sort of defect.
buyer returned to apple who then sent it to the factory.
factory fixed the defect and sent it back to apple.

refurbs are cheaper because they were defected and messed up but then they were fixed.
nothing is wrong with refurbs though.
    they work exactly the same.
no difference at all, just cheaper

Refurbs have as much chance as a brand new iPod to have defects, though. If it comes with a defect, just send it back to Apple again.

I almost think that you are better off with a refurb. They go through a lot of tests to insure they are working properly before they are sent out. I had my 2g replaced under warranty for a light leak issue. The refurb looked brand new when I got it and has performed flawlessly.
