The headphone jack on my 1G Touch is shot. If Apple replaces it, will they give me the new headphone jack with the four connectors, and if so, will it make my 1G work with the new mic/headphones like the 2G?

You'll get an original set of iPod headphones. Remember to send back your old ones in the box they send you or you'll get charged for the new set via credit card.

iPod headphones with the microphone aren't compatible with the 1G iPod touch anyways.

I assume by "Headphone Jack" you mean the hole on the ipod.

If that is the case, then they'll give you a new iPod, probably 1g, which won't be compatible with the mic/headphones combo.

Oh, I thought he was referring to the actual headphones.

    Jack, not buds

No I was referring to the hole, not the earbuds. I want to do a custom install, order the 2G headphone JACK, ie the metal tube that the headphones plug into, to see if I can get the 2G Audio-in capacity on my 1G. I was going to pay for it myself, and have it done by an Apple reseller, not Apple Inc.
