why would you need to repair the baseband? the phone is unlockable and downgrading the baseband would do nothing to it.

opps. i thought that new 1.1.2 can be downgrade to 1.1.1 and get jailbreak......

isnt just download the 1.1.1 firmware restore and hit shift-key to do update?

The 1.1.2 unlock steps outlined above, can anyone vouch for them? I'm a Canadian trying to figure out how best to get an iphone, and if you can now unlock 1.1.2 phones (fresh from the box) then it's as simple as a short trip cross border to an apple store. All the companies up here that offer them are HUGELY price gouging the end user, cheapest in my area (Ottawa, ON) is 580$ for a unlocked/jailbroken iphone.

Or do the steps above just jailbreak it?

NEW IPHONES WITH 1.1.2 SOFTWARE CAN ONLY BE JAILBREAK AND CANT BE UNLOCKED.
to jailbreak the phone, you would need to downgrade the phone to 1.1.1( it wont touch the baseband) and then do the jailbreak process from there
