    No, the installer application has to remain, I am pretty sure, however there probably is a way to just make the icon dissapear. Might be kinda risky though.

    You can uninstall Installer, I just don't know why you would want to. At the very least, hide it so that the icon is not shown. I think getting rid of it is a bad idea. Besides the silly stuff that's in there, there are also vaery valuable things: like the tiff exploit fix.

    well i know there is a lot of useful apps on it but i just really want the iphone apps and i have them all running great now, so..
    anyways, how do you hide the icon, do you have to install something else to do it? (and that is what i don't want, to install more things on it)

    Nope, it's actually very easy to hide icons. I actually have the vast majoriity of mine hidden. Just open up your N45AP.plist It's in
    /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/

    Once you have that open, scroll down. You're looking for a key called Special. Once you find it, you'll probably see a few apps such as DemoApp, maybe FieldTest. In that key, you'll want to copy and paste this:

    HTML:
    			<dict>
    				<key>displayIdentifier</key>
    				<string>com.apptapp.Installer</string>
    			</dict>
    Save, reboot, and you're golden. If you ever need to access Installer again in the future, you can use your SSH client. You'd do that by typing in
    /Applications/Installer.app/Installer
    Install what you'd like, then press Ctrl+C in your Installer to close the Installer.
