    Anyone got any suggestions?

Cydia takes 5mins roughly to reload the data after installing a package or just turning the damn thing on. Anyone got any tips or tricks to make it work faster?

Rock, an alternative to Cydia, which does not reload data every time you install something, and is a lot faster.

from Cydia. just search RockApp or just Rock, it should be there.

Becareful with Rock, RockYourPhone is not as stable as Cydia. It modifies system files and can cause conflicts with Mobile Substrate. Adding sources aren't as easy either (kind of like the original Cydia back when it was up against Installer).

adding sources is simple. and all you have to do is be careful with what you install and know what you are doing.
