Is there any video converter out there that is reliable for converting AVI's etc into the native iTouch movie format?

I have been using TMPGEnc for a while, it does great pictures converting my PC's movie files (mostly XviD or AVI), but there inevitably is a sound lag varying between a fraction of a second, to a whole 3 or 4 seconds. I have learned to manually tweak the settings to adjust for the lag in each individual movie encode, but oh-boy, it takes ages to get it right...

Does anything work that doesn't need constant manual tweaking each time?

HandBrake is pretty good; it has an iPhone / iPod touch "preset" option so there is absolutely no tweaking required (although you can change the settings if you know what you're doing). Works great for me; haven't had a problem thus far.

I use Videoras Ipod Touch Converter too. Just select power mode and you'll be fine. I use it in combination with magic dvd ripper to rip my dvd with subs.

I use DVD FAB it does the conversion faster than realtime, ie. 1:36 movie in 1:18.
