I'm pleased to announce that I have ported hachu's File Download Plugin for MobileSafari to 2.0. This plugin allows Safari to support downloading archives (zips, rars, dmgs, etc.), exes, .*******s (but is not a bit******* client), and all media files that are playable with the MobilePlayer on the device. For media files, you can choose to save or to stream them at the push of a button.

File download progress and the overall average download speed (not authoritative, so don't depend on it) are shown. Files are saved in the /var/mobile/Library/Downloads/ directory.

I have sent the files to BigBoss for putting up on Cydia, and hopefully that will be done in the next day. If you are impatient, I have attached a zip of the files you need.

To install, unzip the attached file and copy the File Download Plugin.webplugin/ folder to /System/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and reboot your ipod or iphone.

The types of files that are downloadable is customizable by carefully editing the Info.plist file included. You'll need to know the MIME type and extension of each file you'd like to download. Most common files are supported by default, if you have a filetype you think should be included, please post here.

    Thanks.

It should work with [PIRACY.rs] etc for zips and rars. If you find one that doesn't work, PM me the link and I'll check out why.
