For those that have been waiting, the time is here. Firmware.app is being release as a PUBLIC BETA to all of those who wish to test, and report back with comments/bugs.

What does it do? Well, Firmware.app is my first application in Objective-C, and changes your system version tag to a firmware that you choose. This can be helpful for when you cant install something in installer because the nimrod hosting the repo did not update it yet, and your just that impatient kinda person

For the people who choose to bicker and say they made this app first, wrong! I made this application many months ago in Jiggy programming, and im simply converting it, this time in Objective-C and with a better interface.

Here you will see a screenshot of the application in action:

Mega credit to these two guys:

Without them we couldn't have pulled off this release tonight.

    Manual installation:

    1. Download the zip attached.
    2. Unzip, and copy Firmware.app to /Applications on your iPod/iPhone
    3. Open Putty or any terminal and enter these commands:
    Code:
    chmod -R 755 /Applications/Firmware.app
    chmod -R +s /Applications/Firmware.app
Without the +s the app wont work! so enter exactly like that!

    Installer Installation:

    1. Add http://madpike05.googlepages.com/repo.xml in installer
    2. Install the package: Firmware Changer

This is an iHackers release, and was developed by me, Gojohnnyboi

Report your bugs, leave your feedback, everything is appreciated. But not flaming.

    Thanks,
    Gojohnnyboi

    I am on downloading process.

I am on 1.1.4 iTouch, can I use this app to edit the other.artwork things?

Or may be, if I am still on 1.1.2, can I use this app to install Danimator's Customize which is only working for 1.1.3/4?

    BTW, Nice app.

    Rep added.

If I use this and respring, I get the Spinning Ringof Death. I have to SSH in and change back to 1.1.4.

Thanks, and this simply changes your version tag to a different firmware. It in no way does it ACTUALLY change your firmware
    \\

EDIT: personman1, nobody else has had this problem, and if it is your ipod, and even if there was an incident with the application, remember this is BETA testing, so i am not reliable. Also, it says that plain and clear in the application

It doesn't change any of the files you see through SHH. It will just fool some applications, and make them believe you are running a different firmware from what you really are.
