Is there a definitive way to determine whether an ipod touch is a refurbished? I am going to exchange my 4g and when I asked, the rep said they wouldn't even be able to tell by looking it at, or the number. They also wouldn't give a direct answer on whether or not it would be refurbished since the 4g is so new. I did ask if I could get a replacement out of the box, and was told the replacement stock is seperate, and they do not give new ones for warranty replacements.

when i got replacement, they opened up a brand new box and gave me it. they did that because the ipod was bought under 10 days ago. and it was closing time at the store and they probably wanted to get rid of me so they could go home

there is no way to tell if it is a refurb.
and it really does not matter because refurbs are just as good. and actually in this case, they might even be better. refurbs means it was taken back to the factory and fixed, so any of the problems the unit used to have, will now be fixed.

so light leaks, heating, home button issues, whatever, should be fixed in a refurb. that is how i see it.

no they dont give you back the price difference, which in my opinion is bullsh*t. if i wanted a refurb, i wouldve waited a month and saved myself some money. i am exchanging mine though maybe tomorrow, and i hope i dont get a refurb but i know i will and hteres nothing i can do about it.

    You can't tell the difference.

    Deal with it.
