RedSn0w has been released, now already there have been loads of threads asking the same questions. So here are the answers.

    Where can i get redn0w?

    http://www.redsn0w.com/rslite101.zip

I have a windows pc, can i use redsn0w currently?

No, "This is for Mac only. But you should be able to find (or work out
on your own) how to do it on Windows or Linux too."

    What firmware do you need

    You need version 2.2.1 Firmware.

    Where is this "2.2.1 Firmware"?

If you dont know this then you REALLY should not be jailbreaking using this method. However it can be found in your iTunes Firmware Updates folder.

    How do I use RedSn0w?

If you do not understand all of that DO NOT DO IT!

    What is libusb?

libusb is a suite of user-mode routines for controlling data transfer to and from USB devices on Unix-like systems without the need for kernel-mode drivers.

    Where can i get libusb?

    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1674&package_id=277626

    Thanks alex

I used redsn0w and now when i turn on my iPod i get a white screen

After the install, your ipt2g will not be bootable without assistance
    from a tethered computer.

Put your ipt2g into DFU mode using keypresses. Don't have iTunes running!
Start rslite. Send the official iBSS from 2.1.1: !iBSS211.dfu
Start rslite again. Send the redsn0w-lite patch: #pwn211ibss.txt
Send the patched iBSS from 2.2.1: !iBSS221pwn.dfu
Use iTunes to do a full restore using your custom 2.2.1 ipsw
Send the patched iBoot from 2.2.1: !iBoot221pwn.img3

Yes you must do this for every boot.

If i use redsn0w will it void my warranty

YOU WILL VERY LIKELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY BY USING THIS.

if you reboot it you will have to restore and lose everything?

No, just run the patch and your stuff will all be there.

Will the dev team help me if i am having problems

No, the dev team has stated that they will not be providing support for redsn0w.

Why dont it run on windows?

Because it is mac only at the moment, people are making windows versions as we speak.

Think of this release as a techy only release. Guys, you will all rush in to use this and most of you will run into problems because you simply dont understand what you are doing.

Again, IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING 100%, I.E. WHEN YOU ARE TYPING IN A COMMAND, DO NOT DO IT!

no problem, knew that hundreds of threads would be popping up after its release. FAQ's are usualy a good way for people to get the information before posting. THerefore lowering the amount of "nooby" questions posted.

Sorry if this is a super noob question, but if you reboot it you will have to restore and lose everything?

You could use xpwn to port rslite to a windows version, right?
