Okay, I am currently running iOS 3.0 on my 2G iPod touch (it's an MB model). I jailbroke it with redsn0w about a year ago, and I want to upgrade to 4.0. Can someone link me to a guide for doing this sort of upgrade?

No matter what, if you want to upgrade to 4.0, you will lose all the jailbreak data. There is no easy loophole. Simply click on "Check for update" and install 4.0.1 via iTunes. (You could purchase Package Backup from the Cydia Store, though. That's a very useful tool).

Then, read the iPhone Dev Team blog post and download Redsn0w there.

    You shouldn't have any trouble.
