Regarding battery life: I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4, untethered on 5.0.1.
I saved SHSH blobs and APTicket with iFaith, updated to 5.1.1 (to get the new baseband 04.12.00), and then restored to custom 5.0.1 firmware with stitched blobs.
I have way much better battery life now, evidently because of the baseband, as the OS version is the same as before.

Pretty sure it will, but someday, we can hope a dev will make a jb tweak where it won't. That is, if they haven't already.

Regarding battery life...i feel that battery life was way better with 5.o.1 than it is currently on my iphone w/5.1
I hope 5.1.1 is going to have better battery life, i dont know why but i could swear that my battery life was really great when i first updated to 5.1 but about 3 weeks ago my battery life diminished and is disgusting...i went through all my tweaks even ran the phone for 2 days un jailbroken and it drains to fast for my liking, i used to take it off the charger at about 9am and at 9 pm still have 20-30%, NOOOWWWW!!! about 4pm,halfway through my dayim at 19%...it really annoys me....o_O
