    He Guys,

So I bought a ipod touch 3g like 8 months ago.
Since 2 months I jailbroke it, on 3.1.3
Now yesterday it fell in the hot tub, first it wouldnt start, but after 10mins
it started but the screen was flickering all time.
So I shut it down, and tried starting again, when I came in the recovery mode? [Im generaly new to this all, I saw the 'connect to itunes' sign.]
I tried connecting to the computer and tried restoring, but it said something like:
'This software is eligable for this device.'
So after 1 day of drying it doesnt start at all. I do still have my warranty.
Can I safely send it back, or do they see that it is/was jailbroken?
    [I couldnt restore completely]
Or is there any other option to fix this?

All help will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Ps. sorry for my bad English

They won't fix it under warranty for water damage

First, it was a bad mistake turning it on right after it fell in. Most likely it is damaged beyond being able to work again. Also, the warranty is not valid for water damage. You should let it dry for a long time, a week at least, and try again. If it doesn't work, you are out of luck, other than trying 3rd party repair services.
    sorry!

I would suggest turning it off, ( never should have turned it on)
Then submerge it in a large container of rice for atleast a week.
The rice may help draw out the water.

also make sure your restoring to the right firmware.
If your Ipod touch 3g is 8gb then it;s not"3g" its actually ipod touch 2G MC

    Good luck

    Just rice?

Also its a 32gb and I just restored with the button in itunes,
not with the shift and press like 3.1.3 or so

Also I just remember that I payed 10$ for insurance [I think 2 or 3 years]
    That's for water damage too.

    1. Will they fix it since it is/was jailbroken, and will they know that it is jailbroken because its in the 'connect to itunes' screen

    2. So should I send the ipod asap? or should I wait 1 more week if it will be any better?

Yeah, Just plain large grain white rice. A bag at the store may cost you a couple of bucks at the most.
Also, if the restore wasn't successful then, they'll probably be able to tell it was jailbroken
Apple usually voids all warrantys the moment thay find out it's jailbroken.

I would try to dry it out and then try to restore again.
If you cant restore you may be able kick it out of recovery mode.

There's a procedure of holding this button.... letting go of that button...etc
Search for a recovery mode video on youtube. I'm not sure of the exact procedure.

lol u should just get the 4th ipod touch, its much better. If u dont fix ur old one sell it on ebay as an "as-is" ipod for 40-50 bucks.
just if u do get the 4, dont drop it in the hot tub again

But it isnt working at all anymore.
So should I let it dry for some days?

And when will I know when to turn it on?

I also do know that the battery was like only 5% when it got damaged
But still I shouldnt connect to a power source [anymore:|] right?

Sorry to say, It's probably fried.
Like I said try drying it for a week or two.
The more you try turning it on and off the more damage you do.

If it is ultimately fried then try taking to the apple store , the worst the say is no and hand it back. They cant confiscate and jailbreaking not illegal, so you cant really lose anything.

    Best of luck

I noticed that this is probably illegal and I don't want to get banned so I have cleared this post (I tried to use the delete button but it didn't work).
