So recently I had to get my ipod touch taken to an apple store because I had a bad battery. So in return they replaced it with a brand new refurbished 1st gen ipod touch which I realized had a few changes. The home button is no longer recessed and gives a tactile feedback like the 2nd gen ipod touch's home button. Also, apple seems to be using new screens for the refurbished models because mine has a screen similar to the iphone 3g and ipod touch 2nd gen where there is a warmer yellow tint to the screen.

Did you have a warranty for this?

Or did you buy it somewhere else and then took it to the applestore?

no, i had a warranty so I took my broken touch to the apple store and they said they had to replace it. They didn't have stock so the guy said come back in tomorrow when our new shipment comes in. He also said that these ipod touch gen 1s were a little improved but I didn't really take him that seriously until I got my replacement.

So would you say that this replacement is an "improvement" over your orginal first gen?

screen wise i would definitely say so. and it seems to run a lot faster as well. apps and things load up much faster than my past touch and the interface is a lot smoother and quicker.
