Does anyone know how to rebuild the music index for FireFly Media Server?

Since it has no GUI, I presume it will have to be done through the Terminal application. But I have no idea how to do it.

i believe it has a web-base gui. i've installed it on both a winxp machine and my nas, which is linux based. for windows, the port is 9999. for linux, it's port 3689. so point your browser to [ip of device you installed firefly]:[port number]. i'm not sure about the port used if install on mac os.

    Awesome, thanks very much!

I can confirm that you can access the web interface from your iPod/iPhone's Safari at:
    http://127.0.0.1:3689 or http://[private ip]:[3689] from your computer.

    Thanks again rem736.

Yea, it's in installer. You need to add the source for it, which I can't remember of the top of my head but you can do a search for Firefly on these forums and find it.

It streams your ipods music to iTunes. Useful for when your at someone elses house who has itunes, but doesnt have your library.

I did a search on firefly... I didn't find any tutorials for it. Is there a tutorial for it anywhere? I don't know how to use it.

you know how you can "share my library" in itunes and other computers in the same network can access the music from the shared library if itunes on other computers is made to "look for shared libraries"? well, that's essentially how firefly works. if you install it on your ipod and you go over to a friends house, connect to his wifi network, then you can play music that's on your ipod from your friend's computer using itunes. there's really nothing else to it. i heard, however, that firefly on the ipod is a battery hog. so be carefull. it starts up automatically at boot time. don't know if there's an app to turn on/off firefly. but i suppose you can use the sysinfo app to kill the process. then reboot your ipod if you want it to start up again.

point mobile safari to http://127.0.0.1:3689 to configure firefly.
