    JAILBREAKING YOUR
    IPOD TOUCH 2nd GENERATION

    I.INTRODUCTION

First of all, What is Jailbreak?
-It allows the user to run applications, bypassing Apple's code distribution mechanism or bypassing digital rights management (DRM). (Wikipedia)

    Who Made the Jailbreak?
-The most famous and popular iPhone jailbreak programs are made by the iPhone Dev Team.
The iPhone Dev Team operates a blog, a technical documentation portal, a download site and a twitter feed.

    What is in Jailbreak?
-The Cydia app and Installer app. Cydia and Installer.app are package managers for installing unofficial 3rd-party applications on the iPhone. Among other things, this allows iPhone users to bypass Apple's restrictions on certain kinds of applications. (Wikipedia)

Can I haz Jailbreak on my 2G?
    - NO. but the iPhone-dev team are currently working on redsn0w. More on that, here is a link. CLICK HERE, after that, CLICK HERE.

    II.OTHER MATTERS

Will I Lose Songs and Other Files When I Jailbreak?
-No, that is if you directly jailbreak your ipod. It is still advicable to first backup your iPod by syncing it with iTunes before jailbreaking.

    Can I Change my iPod's All-Over Look?
-Yes, One of which is called "Winterboards".

I Heard That Jailbreaking Can Brick Your iPod.
-NO. In the strictest sense of the term, bricking must imply that the device is completely unrecoverable without some hardware replacement. If the device can be repaired through software or firmware changes, it's not a brick. Most People say the word brick around to loosely when all their ipod needs is a restore. For More info Click Here.

I Also Heard that Jailbreaking Can Cause Your iPod to Lag.
-Yes, it does cause a laggy behaviour. This only happens when there are multiple background applications running. e.g. multitasking. you know what i mean.

Can you sync your iPod in iTunes even when it is Jailbroken?
-Yes you can. Just sync it like an ordinary ipod.

Maybe you don't know how since you have a 2G but maybe you might want to explain how to theme, how sources work, etc.
