So my bro has his ipod jailbreak at 2.0. His ipod is full of apps, music, vids, pics etc.

If he jailbreaked to 2.2 would he lose all his music, vids etc?

    Also

Does he have to backup his ipod as it is
    Update to 2.2 via itunes
    Jailbreak as 2.2

How exactally does his upgrade his firmware and then jailbreak. I know the tools to do it (quickpwn) but im just lost as the steps needed. The ipodtouchfans site seems to ignore me lol

First question. Yes he will lose everything.

Do not have to Backup. DON'T ever back up. It's kind of useless.

And 2.2 if you plan to jailbreak it. make sure you download it elsewhere. Or From Apple website.

What you mean download it elsewhere? I only need to standard of itunes to go to 2.2 right? Or do i have to download a special version

I forgot what I did for 2.0 since it was such a long time ago

I just did my sisters Ipod Touch yesturday. It was on 2.0 jailbroken and what I did was I updated it in Itunes to 2.2 and I didn't sync it after.

I then opened up Quickpwn and I jailbroke it

Yeah but if you want to use Winpnw. You will need the firmware. No you don't need special Firmware. You can get it from Apple.com sorry for confusion!

guys, help me out please. i have an ipod 1G 2.1 jailbroken. downloaded a custom restore and i wanted to do the restore with the itunes, by pressing lshift and the restore button. the ipod restarted and appared first the logo, and then a picture (it's probably a boot screen in the customs FW). ipod stays stuck at this picture. i tried to enter DSu, it cannot.
