My iPod Touch is not bricked. However, it's in a state that I would consider worse than bricked. That is, a) it won't turn off, it just reset when I hold Power and slide the red strip b) It won't connect to my WiFi spot despite 100% accurate info that is replicated on other devices in the house (it worked before it started acting funky) c) It will simply not go into Safe/Recovery Mode d) Any attempts to do "Restore" through iTunes gives me an error. I tried a few methods, such as rebooting my PC, updating iTunes, and plugging in the USB charger into different ports, but still, same error.

I would very much like to Jailbreak my iPod. The thing is, I think it's in some kind of jailbroken/non-jailbroken limbo state. It has Cydia installed, but no SBSettings.

Please help me out, if you know a way to overcome any of these issues... like restoration, for instance. If I can get that working, I feel like I'll be okay.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention this bizarre thing it does where, if I touch the end of my headphone jack when its plugged in (the base of the plug), such as twist it or just nick it on something, it either starts playing a different song, or it starts playing the music or video I'm watching super fast. And, on occasion, for no discernible cause, it will randomly start shuffling out of the blue, even if I'm not using the iPod.

What software did you use to Jailbreak it? and what firmware version are you on?

I heard somewhere that the redsn0w jailbreak messes with the turning off of the device. Google around to find a solution or wait for somone who has used redsn0w to give you advice.

But i would say force the device into DFU mode and restore.

Uh, force it into DFU mode? I said it wouldn't turn off.

Restore? I said that doesn't work either.

Google around? Is that really the best you can do?

I've already done that. A lot. I thought that would've been the obvious first thing to do...

DFU mode is in the hardware, you can do it, you just don't know how.

You probably already tried this but its worth a shot. Have you tried press and holding the home and sleep button forcing it to turn off? Sorry thats the only thing I can think of.
