With the rumors of an in-house com.apple.MobileRadio application which would activate FM tuning on a number of iDevices, I must frankly say I'm not surprised.

    Here's how I see it:

Apple was to release a revamped iPod touch with FM radio and camera. They also decided to revamp the Nano with similar features. However a last minute problem prevented the camera from making it to the end product.
They then either had problems with the FM radio also, or they decided to keep it for a refresh until the new camera-enabled iPod was ready.

    Sounds logical, no ?

    What do you think ?

I cannot believe this camera theory is still going on. Anyways, I wouldn't mind there being a "Radio" type application. As a matter of fact, I would be somewhat happy. It would be a good addition to iDevices.

I think Apple are just going for the money, because most of their customers are people who don't look at sites like engadget, and realise what is possible.

I bet your ass that the average business dude with his iPhones doesn't know what a respring is.

Yeah, agreed, but I still think that a radio in the touch would boost Apple's market share by at least a bit...

And some cheap phones, like Sony Ericsons, come with built-in radio. Why wouldn't the ever-better iPhone not have it ?

I'd love a radio app! I'm getting an iPhone soon, so it won't really matter, but for now, with my iPod Touch, I'd love to have a Radio app

Sony Ericsons(sp?) need to have the headphones plugged in for it to have the radio work.

And I'll buy a 3g when the radio is activated. (if)

Yeah, but non-jailbreakers don't know what it's called, usually.

The average business dude probably doesn't know the hard reboot.

(hold down home+power till the ipod crashes)

Yeah, headphones serving as the antenna are pretty much the norm when it comes to digital music players. No biggie.

IPhoneOS has, since 2.(Iforget), included radio API in its IAP.framework. I would have experimented with this API, but I never bothered to get another iPod. In retrospect, getting a second generation iPod touch wouldn't have proved fruitful at all.
