what is the difference between quickpwn and redsnow

my understanding when i got my IPT 2g was that they were both seperate jailbreaking utilities, with the main difference being that redsnow was an untethered jailbreak, and allowed you to keep all your apps and settings from before the jailbreak.
and so i used redsnow for 2.2.1, which worked great

with the new 3.0 out, it seems like all the IPT 2g people are waiting for Quickpwn to be able to Jailbreak the 3.0

if some people dont mind waiting, will it be better to wait for the new redsnow?

    thanks for your help

redsn0w was based off of quickpwn. redsn0w uses the same process as quickpwn except its for the 2g ipod touch instead of iphones and the origional ipod touch.

QuickPwn jailbreaks the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and first-gen iPod touch. redsn0w jailbreaks the second-gen iPod touch. The upcoming release of QuickPwn will include redsn0w.

Cool, I was just about to ask the same question.

Just so I understand it (I get I can use quickpwn to jailbreak my iPod Touch 2G if I had used redsn0w before), I've seen some webpages saying not to use yellowsn0w if you used to use it or something like that. What are the differences of the different utilities? Just features (untethered, tethered), or? See I'm used to PC, so for me a thing is cracked if it's cracked. It doesn't matter how or with what =/

Oh, and can someone kindly remind me what tether/untethered means? I used to remember when I first jailbroke it, but now I can't remember =/ (something about having to jailbreak it every time you turn it off for one of them?)
