ok so i've used unofficialsnow to jailbreak my ipod before. So now, i've decided that i want to try out quickfreedom to do the job. but i've encountered some problems. But first here are my specs:
-i have an ipod touch 2nd gen
-i have vista running as my os
-i've also restored my ipod to 2.2.1
So here's the problem, i've quickfreedom to create custom firmware and tried to turn my ipod into dfu mode. Only except my itunes can't even detect my ipod (i know how to do this i've done it plenty before.). So i decided to try testing it while on and still no sign that itunes recognizes it. so while restarting. ive encountered bluescreen of death =. = so i restored it, losing my quickfreedom software but still left with the custom ispw and the original ispw. So i was wondering. Can i just try putting my ipod into dfu mode, use the prejailbreak from unofficialsnow and continue with the quickfreedom custom ispw or will it screw me over? also, what about quickfreedom gave me the blue screen?

I personally have never gotten qf to work in vista.

you can try running it in xp comp mode

Or you could use a virtual machine and do it from XP or an OSX86

Do NOT use QuickFreedom. Use redsn0w, it is the official tool from the Dev Team. QuickFreedom causes problems in many computers because it uses LibUSB, which is probably what caused your BSoD.
    To review:
QuickFreedom (and actually unofficalsn0w) are BAD. DO NOT USE.
    redsn0w is GOOD. DO USE.

I personally have gotten quickfreedom to work fine on vista x32 (not sp1) just installed it, installed libusb in xp compat. mode, created the firmware, pre-jailbroke, and restored in itunes

QuickFreedom worked fine for me, under Windows 7.
You just have to install LibUSB by hand and make sure you run the installer in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode, thats the only hitch.

    Isn't redsn0w still a tethered JB?

If your using qf on vista and its not working run ur computer in safe mode then run qf and you should be fine.....when you get ur ipod on DFU mode to do the restore reboot your computer to reg mode....ur ipod will stay in DFU mode with the white screen until you are ready to load your custom ispw.
