can my friend buy two 3g iphone both 8gb and say this one for a family who has a at&t but is at work or something and purchase it for me with no contract signing

u have to purchase the iphone in store and activate it there. you will also need to upgrade your contract or buy a 2 year contract.

Unless you plan to switch to AT&T, then, as of right now, you sold your iPod for nothing.
